I was born in Sacramento, California. I now live in Lompoc, California, and have been here for 24 years. I love it here. It’s a small town with the beaches just 10 minutes away. I’ve always lived in California, and have not been to many other places. There is so much to enjoy here on the Central Coast, that I don’t feel as if I missed anything.
My grandfather filmed various events in our family with an 8mm movie camera. I always enjoyed watching those films at family gatherings. My family took tons of photos and we’d watch them through slide shows as well. I guess you could say I got inspired by photography very early on.
In my early teens, I began snapping pictures with a Kodak Instamatic.
This interest has continued to grow throughout my life and it remains an engaging pursuit for me.
I took one photography class in the 80s, but am mainly self-taught. I am currently taking a digital photography class at our local college.
My husband says I have a great eye and others have told me I have a natural sense of composition. My work has been featured in the artwork of two CD releases, “Jambient,” by HeavyConfetti, and more recently the new CD by Rob Hegel, “Display.” Photo renderings I did of musical instruments recently appeared in a local music store.
I presently use an Canon T1i Rebel camera. I’ve only had it now for 3 weeks. It is going to take some time for me to learn all that this camera has to offer. I’m excited about it though, and will stick to it until I learn.
I’ve been with the Lompoc Photo Guild since it’s inception and participated in the LPG 2009 Exhibition at Southside Coffee Company, 2009 Retrospective at the Grossman Gallery, and the LPG Collective Show at Vandenberg Village Library. Being in the LPG has helped me to grow as a photographer, and I’ve met some great people that are now my friends.
