Michelle (my sister in law) and I went down to Surf Beach yesterday afternoon to see the merchant steamer ship, Sybil Marston, that has been uncovered due to low tides. The ship struck the rocks near Surf on January 12. 1909. It was a lumber ship, and most of the lumber was taken by locals to build some house. The bow of the ship is about all that is left, but it was impressive just the same. I’m going to try and go back within the next few days if it doesn’t rain and get some better pictures hopefully.
There were a few people there so it was a bit difficult taking pictures. But we both didn’t want to leave when we got there. It just pulled us in somehow. They say it is about 1 mile, but it’s more like 2 miles from Surf. It was such a beautiful day. and I love the beaches here…they seem almost untouched.

sounds like a great walk to see the shipwreak
I remember seeing that sunken vessel years ago when i was a kid. My friends and I would ride our bikes to Surf, spend the whole day there and hike down the beach to the wreckage.
