Meteor Showers and Horses

August 13th, 2010, posted in Animals, Landscapes

Tony, Cathy, Stephanie, and I went to Santa Ynez to watch the Venus, Mars, and Saturn align and see the Persied meteor showers.  The fog rolled in even though we were inland, so the pictures I got were of the horses  and a view of the mountains before sunset. We still had a great time and I learned a lot about nighttime photography. Thanks Cathy.

Solstic Parade Santa Barbara

Well I finally made it to a Solstice Parade in Santa Barbara. It’s celebrates the first day of Spring. There were so many people and so much to see. Some of my photo’s, in fact, most of them were blurry. So here are a few I salvaged. Had a great time and met some really cool people. Will go again.

Cold Spring Tavern

June 28th, 2010, posted in Animals, Miscellaneous, People

Yesterday I went with Sherrie and Cathy to Cold Spring Tavern for Sherrie’s birthday, and to listen to Sean Wiggins  and Paul Houston. They were really good and I was pleasantly surprised.  Sean’s voice was really nice and she would change the way she sang different songs. They performed a Stevie Ray Vaughan song,  Cold Shot, that I really like. Unfortunately I didn’t get any good pictures of our group, but another lesson learned. I also learned that I am now going to carry a pad of paper and a pen, so  I can remember the names of the people that I take pictures of. We all had a great time, and Sherrie’s birthday was a success.

Santa Rosa Road to Buellton, and Cachuma Lake

May 18th, 2010, posted in Animals, Landscapes, Miscellaneous

Tony and I went on a road trip this past Sunday. We went down Santa Rosa Road and ended up in Buellton. Had some lunch and then we were off to find Refugio Road. We found it but it was closed. So we went on to find a waterfall I have heard about on hwy 246. We found the camp, but not the waterfall. Then we went to Cachuma Lake and took some pictures. It was a wonderful day. We just took things as they came to us, and really didn’t plan where we were going next. Here are a few of the pictures from that day.

Return to Freedom

April 18th, 2010, posted in Animals, Landscapes

Yesterday I went with the Lompoc Photographer’s Guild to Return to Freedom. RTF is a sanctuary for wild horses. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t what we did. We went up and down a few hills, stood on steep slopes and took pictures.  My right knee is not strong enough to do that much exercising. It was a difficult trip for me, and I hope some day I can replace that experience with a better one. Without the help from Paula, Autumn, and Jenna, I would’nt have made it.

Dog Park

March 30th, 2010, posted in Animals

Today I went with Paula and Sarena to the new dog park.  We took Duffy and Jenny.  There was a man Richard Penney there with his four dogs. Two Papillions and two Schipperke’s. He rescued one of the Papillions from the pound and is now fostering the two Schipperkes. They are 15 years old and are both going blind. He said the original owner was a meth addict so the dogs were taken to the pound to be put down.  So he and his wife took them in to foster them in the hope of finding a new owner. I thought that was such a great story and asked him if I could take some pictures of him.

Parrotlets and Lilies

March 25th, 2010, posted in Animals, Landscapes

I took this pictures this morning, and wanted to share them with you. Becket and Shelby’s new hang out is the modem, because it is so warm.  It’s as if they are sitting on a heating pad.  The lilies were in the natural morning light, and I thought they look really good and shot a picture.

Santa Rosa Road to Buellton

February 15th, 2010, posted in Animals, Landscapes

Tony and I drove down Santa Rosa Road to Buellton.  Off  Santa Rosa Road are about 6 winery’s.  We stopped to take pictures and didn’t stay for the wine tasting. Towards the end of Santa Rosa Road there is an Organic Lavender Store.  We  purchased some lavender body wash.  It smells so good.  We drove through Buellton and  walked around the Rolling Hills Nursery.  I bought a succulent, one that I don’t have.  I feel fortunate to live in Lompoc, and have so many beautiful places to visit and take pictures of.
